When creating a goal, you should determine what type of goal you are creating and choose the appropriate Goal Template/Type to ensure your goal can be grouped/filtered with other goals of its type, and also ensure that the goal's custom attributes offered to you will be relevant to the goal.

Choosing a Goal Template

To choose a Goal Template, follow the steps below...

  • Click to Create a Goal
  • Click to select the Goal Type/Template
  • Complete the remaining 'Add Goal' fields
  • Click 'Launch' to launch the goal

If you are unsure of which goal type/template to select you can hover your mouse over the box and a tooltip will appear displaying a blurb for each goal type/template

Goal Template Custom AttributesOnce you have selected the Goal Type/Template that is right for your goal, the 'Define Details' section of the 'Add Goal' sidebar will populate with the relevant custom attributes assigned to that specific goal template. As shown in the picture to the left, by choosing the BAU/Services Goal Template, there are now 12 fields to complete. This will vary from organization to organization, however, the idea remains the same. It is encouraged to fill out as many of those fields as you are able to and fields can be populated down the track if you don't have the information on hand when you are creating the goal. If the field does not have '(optional)' marked beside the field title, this means it is a mandatory field and must be filled out.

Custom Attribute fields are used to collect and provide information and the fields can be used as columns in a snapshot or on a dashboard providing a quick overview of a group of goals. To view a list of the different types of custom attribute fields, view the article detailing how to create goal templates
