If there are any unfamiliar terms within this article, please consult our glossary

The planning page has the ability to be looked at in many different views which will allow you to group, filter, or view as a Gantt chart as you require. Beginning in the top left of the screen, the following are notes on how you can configure the planning page to view it as you require at any given moment.

  • List or Gantt - Beneath the plan title near the top left of the screen you will see two buttons - 'List' & 'Gantt'. The list view is the default setting and will show you the list of goals grouped within their Focus Areas. If you click on the Gantt button it will display your goals within their Focus Areas, but in a Gantt chart style view. Initially, the view will only show the current three-month timeline, however, there are buttons near the right of the screen that will expand the timeline ('Full Timeline') and show the progress of the goal exhibited by coloring in that portion of the goal. ('Show Progress')

Whichever view you leave the page in, Cascade will remember this and load the same view the next time you access the planning page

  • The circle with 3 lines in it to the right of the screen, (on the same level as the 'List' and 'Gantt' buttons) allows the user to alter the view of 3 major characteristics of the planner page. Once you click on the button, a menu window will appear and allow you to change the 3 areas listed below...
    • Sort By: Allows you to choose in which order the goals will appear within their sections, or the order of child goals underneath their parent goals
    • Group By: Establishes how the goals will be grouped in the boxes (or under the sub-headings if you are zoomed in) along the left side of the planner page
    • Labels: Highlights a feature of the goal to the right side of the screen in the same row as the goal. eg. if the label is set to status, your goal will have the status showing to the right of the screen as 'on-track'. If the label is set to the owner, your goal will have the goal owner's name listed to the right of the screen as '______ ______'
  • Plan Principles - The Plan Principles area might contain your organization's 'Vision' or 'Mission Statement' or 'Values' or customized fields. These can be edited and customized for each plan, or kept consistent across every plan. Should you wish to hide these fields, click on the circle to the right of screen containing the eye with the line through it. (below the circle with the 3 lines in it) If you wish to make your vision, mission, etc reappear, click on the same button which now contains an eye within the circle
  • Focus Areas - Along the left side of the screen are the Focus Areas for each plan. These can be customized, so may be called something different at your organization. These Focus Areas house different sections of planning, or if you are on your department plan, will house different areas of the Local Government Framework and also collect aligned goals from various other master and governance plans
  • + Add Focus Area - (*if you have plan administration rights) This button will allow you to add another Focus Area to your planning page
  • Tree Structure - This will allow you to view an organizational chart-style structure for your goals contained within this planning page
