The default setting for all new goals in Cascade is set to a target of 100 and a unit of measurement of %. While this does work for many goals, sometimes more accurate and specific tracking is required. Targets can be changed for any goal.
If you are unsure how many or how much of something you are working towards, and would prefer to just use the goal as a counter, you can set it up as a responsive/tracking goal. In this case, select your unit as normal, but enter 0 as your target. This way, you won't be working towards an arbitrary target that you may or may not meet. At the end of the goal's timeline, the final count can be used as the target if the goal needs to be recreated in the future.
To create a responsive goal:
- Click on the goal title to open the sidebar on the right
- Click the circular icon in the top-left corner of the sidebar to expand the Goal Hub
- Click on the Tracking tab
- Click on the Target box and enter 0
- Click on the Unit box to select your unit of measurement
When setting up a responsive goal, it is important to remember that the goal 'Completion Criteria' needs to be changed from 'Target reached' to 'Target & deadline reached' to reflect this. If this is not changed, the goal will be Complete as soon as it is launched because of the target being 0.
