Goals are not deleted in Cascade. Instead, we archive them, This way we can find the information in the archive at a later date if needed.
The first thing to be done is to decide, does this goal need to be archived?
- Is this goal a duplicate? - Yes, archive it.
- Is this goal from last year? - Yes, archive it.
- Is this goal something we were planning to do, but we are no longer going to do it? No, don't archive it. Add an update with the rationale as to why this goal is no longer going to be done. Next change the tracking on this goal to track at 0%, zero out of zero, 0%.
If you answered, Yes, archive it. Select the goal you wish to archive (delete).
By clicking on the goal, the sidebar of the goal will open to the right:
In the top right corner there are 3 vertical dots,. Select the dots, labeled in this image as More Options.
In the options, select the option to Archive.
Once Archive is selected, an Archive Goal window pops up.
In this Example, the Goal selected to be archived has child goals.
If you select Archive in the bottom right corner, the selected goal will archive and the two child goals will become orphaned in the system. This is not recommended. If the two child goals should not be archived, exit this option and check the alignment of the two child goals. Make sure the child goals are aligned elsewhere, then unlink the child goals from this goal to be archived.
If the two child goals are to be archived along with the selected goal, click on the child goals, one at a time and they will select, and turn the same colour as the parent goal:
Once the child goals have been selected, go ahead and select the archive button on the bottom right corner. Be patient; this can take a few moments as the archive is processed in the database.
Now all three of your goals are archived... But wait! You wanted to delete this goal. Now that the goal is Archived, you can delete it from the Cascade database.
In the top right corner, go back to the three vertical dots. Now that the goal has been archived, there is an option to delete it when you click on these dots. Select 'Delete'. Next, there is a pop up that makes you confirm the deletion of the goal.
Deleted goals cannot be recovered, so be sure the goal can and should be deleted before doing so.
